BUT  let’s look at the figures

1.5 acres of grassland can produce 37,000 lbs of plant foods vs 1.5 acres of grass;and can produce only 375 lbs of meat. Figures from the internet. So according to the Internet meat farming is about 1% as efficient as using the same land to grow food to feed people …. figures taken from the World Wide Web.  With information provided by AI….

Step 1: Compute the ratio of yields

Efficiency ratio=37,000375\text{Efficiency ratio} = \frac{37,000}{375}Efficiency ratio=37537,000​

Now calculate precisely:

• $37,000÷375=98.666\dots$

So about 98.7 times more plant food can be produced than meat on the same land.

Step 2: Express as “how much less efficient”

If eating meat yields 375 lbs vs 37,000 lbs of plant foods, then meat production is:

198.7=0.01014\frac{1}{98.7} = 0.0101498.71​=0.01014

So about 1% as efficient, or conversely, eating meat is about 99 times less efficient than eating plant foods in terms of land use.

If this is true we can deduct from these figures that the land use efficiency for human sustenance is more efficient growing food for humans rather than  growing food for animals and eating them.

The Good Gardeners and Farmers have the technology to grow any crop on any soil type without any chemicals.

This will improve the health of the population exponentially.

This is still very much a LOST SCIENCE and it needs to be retaught in Schools and Colleges and Universities all over the world.

This is an ancient Science and was previously prevalent. It is an Agroecology system that needs to be reintroduced to help protect our food sources from excessive climate change and import tariffs.

it’s not expensive to set up Agroecology food growing systems anywhere indeed it can  easily be set up on what the Government call marginal land of which there are millions of acres…

If this method of food production was implemented all over the UK on the remaining ‘marginal land’  we wouldn’t be threatened with food insecurity and lacking in nutrition as is found in our School Children in the UK. This could be done on millions of acres thus dramatically reducing the use of fossil fuels and CO2 emissions.  The returns can vary from 20 – £40,000 per acre per year depending on the crops you grow. 

THE PUBLIC NEED MORE ACCURATE INFORMATION

This is more likely the way to SAVE THE PLANET and FEED THE WORLD. According to the BBC on many programmes sequestering Carbon…… By returning organic matter to the land, in such an efficient manner as we do with the HH-2 system, we are sequestering more Carbon than the planting of trees.  It’s not just about planting trees. It is about how not to deplete the soil with intensive food production as is happening in mainstream Agriculture.

IS REWILDING THE ANSWER?

Rewilding alone does not address the whole issue that is important.  The important issue is to plant trees on all places that are unsuitable for food growing or house building and on hill sides that have been deforested as in the upper reaches of the Severn. This causes flooding lower down as in Tewkesbury.  It is not the answer to saving the planet alone planting on otherwise good Agricultural land with non productive tree species  especially as you can’t eat trees! These mass planting activities can be performed on all slopes that have a gradient steeper than  15 degrees and in boggy, marshey areas. This will hold water and prevent flooding lower down when there is excessive rainfall. Just Rewilding with non productive trees carte blanche is not the answer to solving these problems.  We suggest that the Rewilding experts and Agriculturists should reconsider these issues.

MUCH BETTER

is to adopt a growing system that employs Agroecology that performs many activities at the same time on all slopes that are less than 15 degrees  particularly on South facing slopes.  This may be considered marginal land as it  is considered to be in accessible to mainstream Agriculture.  Agroecology means you plant on contour  indigenous fruit trees rather indigenous non productive trees.  No Dig beds are laid along the contour also and are fertilised with the unique end product of the HH-2 system which renders all forms of wastes of organic origin into premium fertilser/soil conditioner. This locally solves the waste issue at the same time as saving more fuel on collections

THE HH-2 SYSTEM

The HH-2 system sequesters more Carbon than sending waste to Biodigesters and we don’t have to have the end product continually tested for safety.  We’ve been selling the end product HH-4  for 30 years.

SO THIS INDICATES that this system of farming, judging by the figures from the internet, has to be one of the best ways to regenerate the Planet,  saving Fuel, saving Carbon and preserving all the wildlife, pollinators and feeding people at the same time.

It does require though a change in diet.  As we have heard on the BBC many times…We have to eat less meat ……..we can’t go on the way were are. We only have one planet…. if we all want to eat the American diet…..          we would need two planets.

There is no planet B

Here in Wales there is very little fruit and Veg production and this is required to improve the nutrition of our School Children and Students. We see fresh food cooking is being abandoned and School Kitchens closed as they are now  importing pre-packed meals to feed the children.
