At 16 minutes 20 seconds into this presentation Janine Benyus talks about separation technologies and the cessation of mining.

The efficient recycling of effluent can give us phosphorus and potassium, which then avoids the need for mining them.  The phosphorus mines of the world will be seriously depleted by 2030 and the cost of phosphorus will soar.
