UK farming policy to import labour – not sustainable

BBC Farming Today stated that the uk policy is to grow 15% less food and hand out thousands and thousands of more visas to people as far away as Nepal to come and pick fruit and veg that we do have in the UK. This is clearly unsustainable and an error in long term policy for the health and welfare of the people of the UK.
If we can’t do better than this in our Schools and Educational services and produce a sustainable economy in the UK it is presenting a bleak outlook for the United Kingdom.

In the same programme allotments were offered as a solution to obtaining local, sustainable and healthier food for the population. Therefore councils do not want to close more allotments and sell the land for building development as has been the policy in many places across the country.
